We are delighted to welcome you and your children into our Nursery, whilst some of your children are continuing their nursery journey with us, many of your children are just beginning a new and exciting adventure with us at Canon Peter Hall. This is an incredibly special time for your children as they continue to explore the world around them, develop their independence and build the foundations for lifelong learning. We look forward to supporting them throughout this journey as they settle into life at Canon Peter Hall.
Your children will enjoy exploring their new surroundings, making themselves familiar and comfortable with both our indoor and outdoor environments as the begin to build friendships with others. We have an exciting year ahead full of new experiences, which will build upon your child’s learning and provide them with opportunities to try new things. Through play-based learning, songs, stories and hands-on experiences your children will engage with learning based on 6 overarching themes (Local Landmarks, The World of Work, Seasonal Changes, My Life Right Now, Festivals and Celebrations and Eating Well). These learning opportunities will become the foundations which they continue to build on during their time at Canon Peter Hall and beyond. This year, we will be exploring seasonal change through hands on experiences and our visits to our nursery tree will enable us to find out more about how the seasons effect the world around us. We will also have the opportunity to meet people from a range of occupations, including fire fighters, police officers, performers and other local heroes. Your children’s interests are key to our planning process within Early Years, so throughout the year we will engage with their interests and support them to further develop their knowledge and skills within these areas.
Each week your children will be assigned reading to complete with you at home, which can be accessed via the Learning with Parents app. We encourage and expect children to read three times weekly to foster a love of reading and help develop their understanding. Please share your child’s participation by adding comments, photographs and videos.
We believe that strong partnerships with families are essential, and we look forward to working closely with you to ensure your child feels happy, safe, and excited to learn.
