uniform

Please ensure all uniform is named

Introduction

It is our school policy that all children wear school uniform when attending school, or when participating in school-organised events outside normal school hours.

Items of uniform can be bought with the school logo on from the school office whilst other plain items are easily available, at very competitive prices, at local shops including supermarkets. A complete list of the items needed for school uniform, including those for P.E. is outlined below.

RATIONALE

The purpose of wearing uniform is to:

  • promote a sense of pride in our school;
  • help to create a sense of community and belonging towards the school;
  • ensure that our pupils can be clearly identified with our school;
  • support our commitment to inclusion;
  • prevent pupils from wearing ‘fashion clothes’ that could be distracting in class;
  • ensure pupils’ clothing is practical, smart, affordable and are suitable, with health and safety in mind.
uniform list

All children are required to wear a school uniform, this consists of:

  • Grey/Black trousers/skirt/pinafore dress
  • White/Blue polo shirt
  • Blue cardigan/jumper with or without the school logo
  • Summer Dress (Royal Blue)
  • Grey/Black school shorts
FOOTWEAR

All pupils are required to wear flat, plain, sensible black shoes. For health and safety reasons, we do not allow pupils to wear shoes with platform soles, Heelys or high heels. All footwear should be closed in with no toes visible. Sandals and flip-flops are not permitted due to health and safety reasons.

JEWELLERY, MAKE-UP & NAIL VARNISH

For health and safety reasons, we do not allow children to wear jewellery. The exception to this rule are small objects of religious significance or stud earrings.  Children are required to remove any items during PE lessons to prevent them from causing injury. Your child’s class teacher will advise you when PE lessons are to take place. Please note that teachers are not permitted to remove earrings. Children may wear a watch to school but this must not be a smart watch which has the ability to take photographs.

Make up, false nails and nail varnish should not be worn to school unless for an out of school hours function, for example a school disco but this must be removed before school the next day.

PE KIT

For indoor PE children will need:

  • Black shorts and a plain, white t-shirt

For outdoor PE children will also need:

  • Plain dark coloured tracksuit top/sweatshirt/hoodie
  • Plain dark coloured jogging bottoms
  • Trainers or Plimsols  (Trainers are preferable)
swimming

Selected Year groups take part in swimming each term. You will be notified if your child will be attending swimming.  Please note this is part of our PE curriculum and spare swimwear can be provided for children.

support for parents

We believe that one of the responsibilities of parents is to ensure that their child has the correct uniform and PE kit, and that it is clean, in good repair and that the child’s name is written on all items. Children who arrive at school in the incorrect uniform will be provided with the correct items of clothing to wear whilst in school until parents can provide the required uniform.  If a parent has difficulties for any reason with fulfilling this request, they are asked to speak confidentially to Mrs Drew or a senior member of staff to discuss the issues. Parents should be assured that we will do all we can to help.
